7 Month Old C

What a fun little boy I have!  He gives killer smiles now that those two pesky teeth have finally erupted.  He popped the bottom left on Thursday, May 17th and and the right came through not 12 hours later on the 18th.  Glad we only have 18 more to go...

C loves being outside in the nice weather.  He loves to swing or go for stroller rides in the evening.  We go for rides almost every evening that it is possible because he loves to ride but doesn't go sleep.  When we get home, he'll eat and then be ready for bed when the older two are.  It works great.  Evenings we don't walk, don't go as smoothly for bed.

C gave us a full night of uninterrupted sleep this month.  I gave him a bottle at midnight and he slept until just after 6.  Six hours of uninterrupted sleep...how blissful...oh wait...it wasn't uninterrupted.  X climbed into bed at some point.  Oh well.  It was the closest thing to uninterrupted sleep that we've had in awhile.

Eating solids has been a big hit this month.  The last week he's really started taking off with his appetite.  He had a short regression early in May due to a cold and went back to nursing for a few days.  But, now he's packing away the avocado, sweet potato, rice cereal and banana.  He'll eat anything mixed with banana.  He loves it!  He has to have a spoon in his hand at all times while he's eating.  His independent streak has started already.  I might need to be worried.

C isn't sitting up independently yet.  Well, he does for a few seconds but then he topples over.  Some days he does better than others.  But, he does push himself up from the rocking/crawling position and will soon sit himself up, if he gets better at doing it soon.

He does love to get up on his knees and rock and rock and rock.  He'll even do a little hop with those knees and then face plant.  If he can figure out how to make those arms move, I'll be in trouble.  Mobility will be in full swing.  He can get to anywhere he desires now, but it takes him a little time.  He rolls and pushes himself around but if he can crawl, time will no longer be a factor in my favor.

Sleeping has been so much better this month.  He typically only gets up once a night.  He'll stay in his crib until around 7:30 on most mornings.  He still fights going to sleep.  Twice this month he's cried himself to sleep after rocking him for over an hour and he just won't settle down.  But, it is so much better.  He finally moved to the crib the week of May 20th.  He loves the crib.  I think he loves that he can roll around and move.  We love it too because he's finally out of our room and we sleep better too.  (However, due to sleeping issues X has moved in...so we still have an extra child in the room but X is much easier than an infant!)

In the past few days, C has started saying "Ma-ma" when he gets upset and wants attention.  I don't think he really understands what he's saying but I love that it may be intentional soon and be one of his first words...(unlike E who was 21.5 months old before she 'named' me).

Just like with X, we've started working with elimination communication with him.  He does the majority of his #2s on X's froggie potty.  Cleaning out a potty is so much easier than a diaper.  He's not as proficient as X was at communicating with me but thankfully he's not as constipated as X was either.  With X, I didn't have to change many poopy diapers for the entire summer, I'm crossing my fingers with C that we'll do something similar.

I did give in and pull out the 12 month clothes this month.  He weighed 21 lbs on Mother's Day on Mom's scale.  He goes to the dr on Friday for his 6-month well baby check and we'll get his official weight and length then.
