Wordless Wednesday...Almost
Does she look comfortable to you?! She was completely dead asleep. She was so sound asleep that not even her alarm woke her up when it started going off...

A at 5 months...
Well, A turned 5 months old with a cold...just like his 4-month b'day. He was sick enough that we took him to the dr at the beginning of the week. He did have an ear infection and so he got put on some antibiotics again for that. The dr also wonders if he has some food allergies due to my inability to get his eczema under control. So, I'm off dairy for the next month to see if that clears things up for him.
Aunt Stacey fed him his first solids over Easter...or suck on it anyway. He's enjoying a mandarin orange. He LOVED it! He'd gnaw at her fingers when she'd take the orange slice away. He's ready to eat real food! But, I'm going to try holding him off for a bit longer while we test this food allergy theory.
He's lost so much of his newborn hair. The top hair is still very dark but it is getting thinner all the time. The new fluff growing under it is much lighter than what he was born with. The back of his head is mostly bald and his top is getting quite thin also. All my combing to get rid of his cradle cap is wearing out his original hair.
A's sleeping patterns are getting better. He usually only gets up once a night around 3. One night he got up just as we went to bed, so I fed him and then he slept for 7 hours...which meant we slept for 7 hours. It was heaven!! It wasn't uncommon for him to sleep 7 hours but the first 3-4 hours usually happen when we are still awake. It was so nice to have them happen at the same time we were sleeping!!
A started rolling over this month. He rolled over and 'touched' E for the first time. It was quite theatrical on E's part. "Mom! He TOUCHED me!" She was upset. I laughed. It was funny. He's going to learn so quickly how easy it is going to be to get her going. I might have my hands full!
A was 15 lbs 1 ounce at his 4 month check-up and was still just over 15 pounds at his appointment on March 30th. His colds have kept him from putting on much weight, I think. But, he's still a good sized little guy.
He is enjoying being entertained more and more. He loves grabbing at the toys on the activity mat. He loves pushing the toys off of the exersaucer. E is usually pretty good about putting them back on the tray, if we ask. He loves watching her and laughing at her. She's the best way to entertain him. He's in awe of her!
No teeth yet...but still lots of drool and chewing on anything and everything that he can get into his mouth. He loves to chew. It has been fun this month watching the dexterity in his hands grow. He can maneuver just about anything that he wants to in his mouth. I need to go through and babyproof the house again and move all of E's small toys up to her room. He's rolling across the floor at will now and putting things in his mouth. I really have to watch him.

Loving the Spring Weather...
We have been enjoying the weather for the past few days. The tricycle even got taken out of the basement yesterday. E is doing a great job making it go...however, steering is a bit of a challenge yet. But, we know that it will come.
The first thing that she had to do was put some 'treasures' in the basket. The beaded necklaces had to go in the basket. Crazy girl.
She enjoyed showing off her bike riding skills to her dad when he got home. She was very impressed with herself.

Is it ever more fun to be outside than the first warm days in the springtime???

A glimse of life...
A is 4 months and counting. He learned this week to roll over from back to front. Tonight he even managed to roll back on to his back when he got tired of being on his tummy. He won't be where we leave him for much longer!!
He also is getting much more dexterity in his hands. The activity mat is becoming more fun as he's learning that he can grab and touch the objects on it.
It is so fun to watch him learn. Of course, his favorite thing is to watch his sister. He sat in the Boppy for quite a while this evening mesmerized by E's fun in the kitchen sink. She was washing her dishes from her play kitchen.
E had her first overnight trip this weekend to G'ma and G'pa's house. It was a huge success. Both parties enjoyed themselves immensely...(or at least that what I was told). E even got to go out to breakfast with G'ma and G'pa and their friends. She brought home cheese curds from visiting the Amish dairy.
When G'ma dropped her off, she went to Statewide and stayed at the hotel on Saturday night. She got to go to the mall AND swim in the pool. I think that she thought that this weekend was heaven...night at G'ma & G'pa's, a mall and swimming. Does life get any better than that for a 2.5 year old?!

A at 4 months
A is keeping us busy at 4 months. He celebrated his 4 month b'day with a cold. He's got some chest congestion going on but hopefully it will clear up quickly. He's about 17 pounds and I moved all of his 3-6 month clothes out of his dresser today and moved in all the 6-9 month apparel.
He's still getting up a couple times a night. He's on a very predictable 3 hour routine...day or night. He gets up and eats, plays and then goes back to sleep about 2 hours after he woke up. I'd like his naps to be an hour long but usually they are more like 45 minutes. However at night, he usually goes right back to sleep after eating...thankfully!
A really started drooling and chewing this month. I switch his bib every couple of hours because he loves to drool and chew on it. He always has his hands in his mouth gumming away at them. I fear that his first tooth will be here before we know it.

"Tell me a story"
It all started with comparing my baby pics to A's. Believe it or not, I had quite the chubby cheeks and multiple chins. Well, E saw a picture of me at about 1.5 years-old covered in spaghetti. She wanted to know what had happened. So, I made up a tale about how I made a mess of my dinner and G'ma and G'pa had to clean me all up. She loved the story...and thus began this phase of storytelling. I repeated the spaghetti story numerous times. Then, I decided that I needed to remember some other stories to entertain her. I have been racking my brain to come up with stories that I remember and that she can relate to. I'm finding that I don't have a great memory, but the more I think, the more I remember. It is actually pretty fun reminiscing down memory lane with her. She loves stories about me having the chicken poxes, my dogs, my bunnies and Aunt Stacey.
My favorite part of the reminiscing is when she crawls up into my lap, or into bed with me, and says, "Let's cuddle. Will you tell me a story about you when you were little?" Its so adorable! Just makes my heart melt!
She also likes stories about when she was a baby or when G'pa was a baby...but I don't really know many about G'pa. I keep telling her to ask him, but she doesn't remember at G'ma and G'pa's house.
